Overview
The purpose of this site is to show the location of all field trials
involving the intentional release of Genetically Modified Organisms (
GMOs)
into the environment under limited and controlled conditions. The site
includes information on both current and previous (post-harvest) trials
that are currently regulated by the Gene Technology Regulator across
Australia.
The site utilises a web-based Geographic Information System (
GIS) to show
the location of
GMO field trials in relation to other land use activities
such as agricultural production areas and conservation areas.
The site enables users to search in three different ways, by:

particular geographic regions of interest;

the location of releases of specific GMOs across Australia; or
-
the location of sites covered under individual licences issued by the
Gene Technology Regulator.
